About Us
Northwest Parish is a community of people from a wide geographical area in the north west of Christchurch, ranging from Bishopdale, Casebrook, Redwood, Northwood and Belfast suburbs and sometimes beyond this.
There are two churches within the Parish
St Davids, Belfast at 831 Main North Road, Belfast
St Silas, Redwood at 237 Main North Road, Redwood.
St Davids, Belfast
St Davids was built in 1902 and has been a part of the Belfast community for many years. The church is an intimate traditional space for those who gather each week to worship together. The atmosphere is quiet and reflective. It is a place to belong and find friendship and support for the journey of life which throws all kinds of challenges our way.
There is something about the atmosphere of this little church that helps people on their journey through life. St Davids offers a special place for prayer and worship, and specials occasions. It has a traditional and intimate setting, and the knowledge that people have gathered there for many years adds to the tranquil atmosphere.
We gather for services on 2nd - 5th Sundays, plus have a service on Wednesday mornings during the week at 10am. St Davids also has one service on 1st Fridays of the month at 10am.
St Silas, Redwood
St Silas, Redwood is a contemporary facility built in 1990 to combine with the existing Hall, originally built much earlier for the local community.
We welcome all ages to our community for Sunday morning services and include opportunities for worship by all ages and a "Kids Club" for children.
We gather together on 1st Sundays as a combined parish at 9.30am, and on other Sundays at 10.30am, unless there are special events e.g. Easter and Christmas. Changes in times are advertised in our weekly Bridge newsletter and on the website.
There are a large number of parish and community activities for all ranging from Pre-school Music and Movement, Orchard Youth, Kids Club Programme on Sunday mornings, AAW, Mens Group and small bible study groups.
